In partnership with the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) Metropolitan Phoenix Chapter, ITS Arizona has committed to support a summer internship at Valley Metro.  The partnership marks the second year in which the two organizations have combined resources to help provide on-the-job experience and mentoring to a young aspiring professional in the transportation and technology disciplines.  This year’s internship program will focus on transportation planning and sustainability.  Through this program, the intern will be encouraged and supported to explore the use of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) technology as a sustainability solution.

Interested applicants who are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Graduate Degree program in Urban Planning, Geography, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Public Administration or a related field are encouraged to apply before the deadline of May 20th, 2016.  A complete description of the internship opportunity, requirements, and application links are available on Valley Metro’s web site here: Valley Metro Planning and Sustainability Internship

In addition to responsibilities at Valley Metro, the selected intern will be expected to fulfill the following commitments on behalf of ITSAZ and WTS:

  • Attend and observe ITSAZ and WTS Board Meetings
  • Prepare and deliver an industry relevant presentation at one event of each sponsoring organization (ITSAZ and WTS). A presentation abstract will be submitted to each organization’s Board of Directors for approval.
