
ITS Arizona is pleased to announce scholarship awards for applicants who are pursuing higher education or working in the Transportation/Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) field to improve safety and efficiency. The scholarship criteria look for excellence in the classroom, passion for innovation, and enthusiasm for the transportation industry.

Submission Deadline
The call for applications for 2026-2027 scholarship is open now and ends on May 1, 2026. The applications must be submitted before 5:00 PM MST on May 1, 2026.
Eligibility
Undergraduate Scholarship ($1,750)
- The Undergraduate scholarship is open to those students who are enrolled in their junior or senior year for the 2026-2027 academic calendar (i.e. award is open to students who will have completed his or her sophomore year by summer 2026).
- The student shall be attending public university within the State of Arizona.
- The student major shall align with the ITS/transportation industry, including a variety of engineering and technology fields of study.
Graduate Scholarship ($1,750)
- The graduate scholarship is open to those students who are pursuing master’s or doctoral degree in the field of transportation/ITS for 2026-2027 academic calendar.
- The student shall be attending public university within the State of Arizona.
- The student major shall align with the ITS/transportation industry, including a variety of engineering and technology fields of study.
Young Professional ($1,500)
- Open to young professionals who are working in the transportation/ITS industry.
- The applicant should be within the first five years of their professional career (e.g., graduated in May 2021 or later for this application cycle).
Basis of Selection
- Industry interest and alignment with ITS Arizona goals
- Professor and/or Professional References (limit 2)
- Quality of Short Essay (3,000 characters maximum)
- Academic record (Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarships only)
Essay Requirements
The essay should describe and convey the following:
- Applicant goals and objectives as they pertain to use and application of transportation/ITS technologies
- Description of experience and/or activities that demonstrate relevance to ITS.
- Convey the student’s interest in the transportation technology industry
- 3,000 characters maximum
Instructions for Scholarship Applications
- Get up to two (2) professor and / or professional references (one page letter per reference).
- Prepare a short essay (see instructions above)
- Complete the online Google form with the details and upload the references and essay
