2023 Service Events: Feed My Starving Children

  ITS Arizona members volunteered at Feed My Starving Children's food packing event on December 1st, 2023. Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit organization that packs food and ships it to places that are going through unfortunate times. For this event, we had an attendance of 19 ITS Arizona volunteers (including family members). In total 28,512 meals were packed in 132 boxes by a total of 178 volunteers in about 1.5 hours. The packed meals went to the Philippines through Risen Savior Missions.  Thank you to all the members that joined for this great event!   Various events like this are planned for 2024, so watch your email for updates and how to participate!

Technical Workshop/Luncheon Next Week!

  You're invited to the Technical Workshop/Luncheon hosted by ITS Arizona, featuring Dr. Alyssa Ryan from the University of Arizona. Dr. Ryan will discuss the human factor challenges associated with the science and research on the role of human factors in transportation technologies, including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Dr. Ryan will also discuss ways in which technologies can improve driver safety, including the future of autonomous and connected vehicles. Dr. Alyssa Ryan, Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona, recently launched the University of Arizona's first operating human factors lab with a driving simulator. This simulator includes eye-tracking equipment, many sensors, and full customization. It also includes Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and automated vehicle capabilities. Feed My Starving Children Service Event – ITE/ITS AZ

Thank you to everyone who joined the combined ITS and ITE Service and Outreach Committees for the Feed My Starving Children event in December.  We had a healthy turn-out of 18 members and family to assist in the food packing process for meals destined for children in the Philippines.  In total, the efforts of our team and the other volunteers that day resulted in the preparation of 140 boxes for a total of 30,240 meals.  This is enough food to feed 82 children for an entire year!  What is truly amazing about this organization is that 90% of donations go directly to the packaging of food for children across the world. Saturday’s efforts reflected donations totaling $7,257.60.     Keep an eye out for more events as well – we want to continue to provide ample opportunities for ITS and ITE members to make positive impacts on communities near and far.
