  You're invited to the Technical Workshop/Luncheon hosted by ITS Arizona, featuring Dr. Alyssa Ryan from the University of Arizona. Dr. Ryan will discuss the human factor challenges associated with the science and research on the role of human factors in transportation technologies, including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Dr. Ryan will also discuss ways in which technologies can improve driver safety, including the future of autonomous and connected vehicles. Dr. Alyssa Ryan, Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona, recently launched the University of Arizona's first operating human factors lab with a driving simulator. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is seeking information from State, local, and industry partners and the public on proven processes or technologies that have the potential to provide efficiencies in the planning, design, construction, operations, and/or maintenance of the nation’s highway system. Specifically, the FHWA is interested in innovations and processes that have the potential to transform the way the highway transportation community does business by shortening project delivery time, enhancing roadway safety, reducing traffic congestion, and integrating automation. The information submitted in response to this notice may assist FHWA identify proven, market-ready innovations for potential deployment in the next round of Every Day Counts (EDC) in 2021-2022. Thank you to everyone who joined the combined ITS and ITE Service and Outreach Committees for the Feed My Starving Children event in December.  We had a healthy turn-out of 18 members and family to assist in the food packing process for meals destined for children in the Philippines.  In total, the efforts of our team and the other volunteers that day resulted in the preparation of 140 boxes for a total of 30,240 meals.  This is enough food to feed 82 children for an entire year!  What is truly amazing about this organization is that 90% of donations go directly to the packaging of food for children across the world. Saturday’s efforts reflected donations totaling $7,257.60.     Keep an eye out for more events as well – we want to continue to provide ample opportunities for ITS and ITE members to make positive impacts on communities near and far. 

The 27th ITS World Congress in Los Angeles, CA, October 4-8, 2020 will explore "The New Age of Mobility." The recent explosion of new technologies and new forms of mobility are transforming the future of transportation. At a time in which we are focused on moving people, data and freight, how will we prepare for a future that is increasingly more connected, autonomous, shared and electric? The technologies that make our roads safer will also reduce congestion and greenhouse gas emissions and move us closer to a future of seamless mobility — one that is safer, greener and smarter. It is the intent of this World Congress to focus on these issues through the exchange of information and dialogue among our attendees. A robust technical program is critical to accomplishing this goal.
