Do you Tweet?  If so, you may want to starting following @WazeTrafficPhx.  Phoenix is one of 50 ‘traffic-intense’ locations selected by Waze with specialized Twitter accounts to let drivers know when there is something unusual happening on the road at any given time and inform them how it will affect their drive.  The Unusual Traffic service uses historical data to compare what is actually happening on the road to what traffic typically looks like for the same street and time.  Information included in the tweets will include:

  • The location and cause (if available) of the unusual traffic
  • The extra time added by the unusual traffic
  • Pictures from Waze users’ real-time road reports
  • Whether the traffic jam is building up or clearing up
  • A link to a page containing the optimal alternate route to bypass the traffic
