ITS Arizona Volunteer Opportunities
ITS Arizona Members, ITS Arizona currently has a strong membership of over 500 representing public, private, and academic institutions dedicated to improving safety and efficiency using advanced technologies. ITS Arizona holds an annual conference that provides networking opportunities and promotes collaboration among our members. Our regular social and service events provide the opportunity to use our platform to bring positive change in our community and give back with our membership (2023 events included: Game Show Battle Room, Happy Hour at The Shop with Arizona ITE, Volunteering at St. Mary’s Food Bank, and Volunteering at Feed My Starving Children). We work closely with industry, practitioners, agencies, and three state universities, with the goal of promoting future leaders in the ITS field. ITS Arizona and SwRI Team up for the 2024 Future Leaders Program at ITS America Conference & Expo
Offering students inside access to attend an ITS industry event ITS Arizona and Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) are excited to partner together for the second edition of the Future Leaders Program with ITS America Events at this year’s ITS America Conference & Expo, organized in partnership by RX and ITS America (ITSA), taking place April 22-25 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona. 2024 ITSAZ Engineers Week Opportunity
The ITS Arizona Board has organized a number of schools and teachers throughout the valley that are interested in having professionals in the engineering industry come talk to their classes during Engineers Week (February 19-25)! Kids are getting excited about engineering! The classroom visits are anticipated to include an introduction to engineering and the ITS field and a hands on activity to connect to the engineering process. We are calling on those involved in the ITS or transportation community to visit a classroom in your area of town on the day of your availability to help participate in classrooms to celebrate Engineers Week in February. Below is what we have set up for volunteerism opportunities. The days are fairly flexible and the times are flexible as well. ITS Arizona Future Cities Award Winner
ITS Arizona is an annual sponsor of the Best Future Transportation System award for the Engineers Week Future Cities Competition (https://futurecity.org/). This annual event encourages middle school students in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by presenting a set of technical challenges over a four-month season culminating at a regional finals event that took place this past weekend. The technical challenge this year was Electrify Your Future – Design a 100% electrically powered city while keeping the environment healthy and safe. This year’s winner of ITS Arizona’s award is Platinum City – their innovative city located on the eastern coast of the Danish islands of Zealand and Amager in Denmark – they did a tremendous job of incorporating futuristic transportation system ideas into their City while leveraging the multiple modes that their City residents wanted to use to move around.
